TRI-BASE® is a material which combines of 50% of DupontTM by progressive Kevlar® trechnology, 30% Protex-M fibers, TRI-BASE® is a material which combines of 50% of DupontTM by progressive Kevlar® trechnology, 30% Protex-M fibers, 18% Cotton and 2 Lycra®. Thanks to this composition of materials, strength, flame retardancy, heat resistance and comfort are achieved.
Special fibers of Protex-M inside TRI-BASE® fabric prevent the flame spread and the ability to stop combustion. When the flame source is removed Protex-M has a self-extinguishing nature by which combustion stops immediately. When thermoplastic fibers, such as polyester and nylon, melt they produce hazardous high-temperature droplets that could cause severe burns to the skin. Protex-M melt-resistance and carbonization attributes not only extinguish the fire but also play an important role in preventing secondary injuries.
Protex is a high performance inherently flame retardant self-extinguishing fiber. Its advanced FR properties when blended with non-FR fibers improve their overall performance.
Key advantages of this Protex-M material are:- inherently flame retardant - Protex-M is inherently flame retardant product in which the fiber resin itself contains the flame retardant ingredient. When the flame source is removed fiber has a self-extinguishing nature by which combustion stops immediately. Unlike FR treatments, there is no deterioration in flame retardanacy after repeated washing or normal use over time.
- melt resistant - using of Protex-M fibre stops the spread of the fire and extinguishes it with the char barrier which forms when the flame source appearsis removed. Unlike other thermoplastic fibers, such as polyester, Protex does not melt or form droplets that could stick to sking and cause injury
